Do you ever struggle with letting go of the "shoulds"?

It's something many of us deal with, and it can drain our energy. While there are responsibilities we can't ignore, there are also things we can let go of. 

And when you finally do, you create a space for yourself by having a clearer mind and healthier habits. 

Let me break this down for you, so you can identify areas in your life where letting go can help you regain control of your time and energy:

 

Letting go of things: 

If you're holding onto material possessions in an effort to not be wasteful, know that it’s still wasteful. Clutter in your home, car, office, or storage is a drain on your mental energy. You could use that energy more effectively elsewhere.

 

Letting go of what people think: 

Obsessing over what others think is another energy suck. Remember, you know yourself and your heart better than anyone else. So, instead of trying to prove people wrong or trying to prove yourself to those who doubt you or don't understand you, do what's right for yourself. This will attract people who appreciate you for who you are, which will fuel you to thrive. 

 

Letting go of others’ journeys: 

If you have a tendency to want to fix things for other people, know that this is energy being taken from nurturing yourself. Not everything is for you to fix. One way to let go of others’ journeys is to practice your faith and pray for their resilience, so you can let go and live your life fully. Remember that the only shots you really call are how you conduct yourself.

 

Letting go of doing everything: 

If you feel like it’s faster to do it all yourself, reflect on the outcome and results you have gotten. Do you feel at peace, accomplished, and joyful? Or do you feel overwhelmed, burnt out, and see life passing you by? If you resonate with the latter, then know you’re not going anywhere fast, and it’s time to slow down, reflect on the life you want, and start aligning your actions.
