How To Get In The Habit Of Journaling

So all of us, at some point, have tried to journal, and for many of us (busy moms), it didn’t stick.

If you loved Sanrio like me growing up, you might have had a diary or two or three with a lock to keep your secrets in, and I thought that was journaling. (Excuse me as I blush and recall some of the nonsense I used to write in them about boys in junior high. Gross!).

And we've all heard that journaling can help process emotions and cultivate gratitude.

However, for many busy moms, it doesn't seem to stick, and here's why.

Our minds are constantly occupied with family, work, appointments, and endless tasks.

Journaling about feelings feels like just another task, and who has time for that, right?

We've got stuff to do!

And a gratitude journal?

Don’t get me wrong, I use one myself.

But marketing them to busy moms can sometimes make us feel like we should only focus on being thankful, even if it means piling more on our plates until we're burnt out.

If you feel the same way, here's a mindset shift if you want to make journaling a habit but don't know where to start.

Firstly, remember that habits stick when they are easy, but I believe the action also has to be a representation of who and what you want to be about.

In other words, Mamas, you have to get out of your mind for a minute, let go of the neverending to-do list, and tune in to your heart. After all, that list doesn't matter much if your life lacks love and joy, right?

So, let's start there.

Because what you truly want to manifest is more love and joy so that when you're 55, 75, or 105, you can look back and know you lived a life filled with love and joy.

So, what does this have to do with journaling?

Well, everything, if you want to manifest more love and joy in your life.

Manifestation journaling involves writing down what you want to see in your life and tapping into the universe's abundant energy to guide you. The more you write about your desires, the more aligned you become with the universe, and your subconscious starts to recognize those desires.

As a result and serendipitously, you are then presented with opportunities the universe pitches your way that align with your intentions, which becomes the building blocks for manifestation.

Here are 5 tips to make manifesting journaling a habit👇

  1. Find a notepad or journal that excites you, whether it's from TJ Maxx, the 99-cent Store, or your favorite shop.
  2. Have a backup plan, like a digital journal in your notes app or a Google Doc folder labeled "Journal."
  3. Journal when you'll have some peace and quiet, perhaps first thing in the morning or before bed.
  4. Focus on quality, not quantity, when writing – be present with your thoughts and intentions.
  5. With manifestation journaling, instead of asking for specifics, write about the kind of relationships or guidance you want.

Tip: If you want more patience with the kids, write about what you want your relationship with the kids to look and feel like.

If you’re looking for a specific job, write about receiving guidance to gain a job that will make you feel fulfilled.

The goal is to start small.

Here’s a prompt you can try:

Write about a feeling you want to feel the next day.

For example, “Universe, please guide me to feel more nourished and calm.”

When I've guided clients through manifestation journaling, they've experienced more connection, promotions, improved finances, better health, and more.

Give these manifestation journaling tips a try.
